Your consultation can take from 15 to 45 minutes, during which time your Consultant will discuss your symptoms and medical history with you. You may be referred to our in-house imaging department for diagnostic scans.

Once you have been assessed and received a diagnosis, your Consultant will then talk to you about the best form of treatment for you.

Your Consultant will consider conservative treatment options and, if surgery is recommended, minimally-invasive "keyhole" techniques will be used whenever clinically appropriate.

Common foot problems we treat

Bunions

A bunion (hallux valgus) is a bony lump on your foot. Bunions don’t always cause symptoms but can get worse over time. They can be painful, especially when you’re walking or wearing shoes.

Stiff big toe

Arthritis (osteoarthritis) of the big toe can result in your toe becoming stiff and painful (hallux rigidus). This can lead to a bony lump on the top of the joint. This can make wearing shoes challenging.

Toe deformities

Hammer toe, mallet toe and claw toe are all toe deformities due to an imbalance in the muscles, tendons or ligaments that normally hold them straight. You may experience pain and find it unsightly.

Morton’s neuroma

Morton’s neuroma is a condition that affects the ball of your foot, typically the area between your third and fourth toes. Morton’s neuroma may feel as if you are standing on a pebble in your shoe.

Achilles tendon issues

The Achilles tendon is a fibrous band of tissue that links the muscles in your calf to your heel.  If it becomes inflamed, swollen, and irritated, it is called tendonitis. The tears in your tendon fibers can cause a complete or partial break in your tendon, called a rupture.

Ingrowing toenail

Ingrown toenails are a common condition in which the corner or side of a toenail grows into the surrounding flesh. This can result in pain, redness, swelling and in some cases an infection. Ingrown toenails usually affect the big toe.
