Once you have been assessed and received a diagnosis, your Consultant will then talk to you about the best form of treatment for you.
Your Consultant will consider conservative treatment options and, if surgery is recommended, minimally-invasive "keyhole" techniques will be used whenever clinically appropriate.

Common hand problems we treat
Carpal tunnel
Carpal tunnel syndrome is caused by pressure on a nerve in your wrist. It can be painful. The carpal tunnel is an opening in your wrist that is formed by the carpal bones on the bottom of the wrist and a ligament called the ‘transverse carpal ligament’ across the top of the wrist.
Trigger finger
Trigger finger happens when your finger becomes locked in a bent position and you’re unable to straighten it out. It can cause pain, and reduced capabilities of the hand. This happens when your tendon or sheath (the thin layer of tissue surrounding the tendon) swell and this can cause your finger to get locked in a bent position.
Duputren's contracture
Dupuytren's contracture is when one or more fingers bend in towards your palm. There's no cure, but your fingers can be straightened if it's severe. Dupuytren's contracture mainly affects the ring and little fingers. You can have it in both hands at the same time. The exact cause is unknown.
Ganglion cyst
A ganglion cyst is a fluid-filled swelling that usually develops near a joint or tendon. The cyst can range from the size of a pea to the size of a golf ball. Ganglions can occur alongside any joint in the body, but are most common on the wrists (particularly the back of the wrist), hands and fingers.
